A record player has a turntable that is driven indirectly by a centrally located motor that has a pulley coupled to individual pulleys located around the periphery. The transmission is provided by separate belts to distribute and balance the loads. The pick-up head is supported on a carriage with a pair of radial arms with separate support points. The arms are of circular section tube and the wires are passed through them.
