Fire resistant resin compsn., esp. for coating electric wires

A fire resistant resin compsn. (I) contains (a) 20-60 wt.% polypropylene series resin, (b) 1-20 wt.% polyethylene modified with an unsatd. carboxylic acid or deriv., (c) 35-65 wt.% metal hydrate and (d) an ethylene copolymer in amts. such that the wt. ratio (d)/(a)+(b)+(d) = less than 0.48. Also claimed is electric wire coated with an outer layer of a compsn. obtd. by mixing 50-180 pts. wt. metal hydrate (c) with 100 pts. wt. of a resin mixt. contg. at least 40 wt.% (a), 1.5-30 wt.% (b) and less than 48 wt.% (d).
