<p>Method of assembling a clutch mechanism including a cover (2), a diaphragm (3) fitted to the cover by pivoting means (4), a pressure plate (1), secured to the cover (2) in rotation, while being axially moveable in relation to the latter by means of tangential tongues (7), return hooks (5) for attaching the diaphragm (3) to the pressure plate (1), fasteners (6) for securing the tangential tongues and the return hooks (5) to lug elements (12) on the pressure plate (1). According to the method, subassemblies (8) consisting of return hooks (5), tangential tongues (7) and fasteners (6) are formed, the tangential tongues of said subassemblies (7) are then secured to the cover (2), the diaphragm is fitted to the cover using pivoting means (4) and finally the fasteners (6) are fitted to the lugs (12) of the pressure plate (3).
