The driving seat (2) with armrests (3) is mounted at the rear of the machine (1) above its electric traction battery compartment (4) and within easy reach of two levers (e.g. 12a) installed side-by-side for controlling speed and direction of rotation of the driven wheels (e.g. 7a). The brushes are protected by a sheet-metal skirt (9) depending from another compartment (8) which contains the brush motors and receptacles for the cleaning liq. and the dirt swept up from the floor.
