The linkage element for a chain (34) has a glide surface (12,14) which is linked at 180 deg and has a semicircle section (16,18). The glide surface at least on the end side of a circumference end point (20) of the semicircle, on which the chain runs, proceeds continuously and tangentially in the chain flow direction (24). The length of the tangential continuous sections (26,28) of the glide surface is enough to support at least one of the chain divisions.
