[Also in Division A4] A spring clip suitable for supporting an electrical conductor, is a one-piece construction of electrically insulating material, and includes a base 12 which has a first surface for adhesive attachment to a support member 15 and an opposite second surface from which projects an arm 16, the free end of the arm normally lying substantially adjacent to the second surface but being resiliently bendable away from the second surface to permit the reception therebetween of the said conductor, the part of the base which lies near the free end of the arm having a thickness generally equal to that of the arm, and the part of the base in the vicinity of its junction with the arm being of greater thickness to withstand forces arising from the said bending of the arm, which forces would otherwise cause the central portion of the base to detach from the said supporting surface. In the construction shown the stronger part of the base plate when viewed in transverse section progressively increased in thickness from the part having the thickness substantially equal to that of the arm to a maximum thickness at the junction of the arm with the base plate. Adjacent the free extremity of the arm the base has a thickened area 24 and the free extremity is in the form of a lateral lip 22 which presents a surface flaring away from the small thickened area of the base plate. |
