For the purpose of electrolytical decontamination or regeneration of a cyanide-containing aqueous solution, cyanide is converted, by means of anodic oxidation, into carbon dioxide and/or nitrogen and/or ammonia, the metallic fraction of the cyanide compound being deposited cathodically at the same time; to improve the efficiency of the cyanide oxidation, the solution has introduced into it a metal at cathodic potential and/or metal ions. The anode used is a dimensionally stable electrode on the basis of titanium, which has an electrical catalytic coating consisting of oxides or platinum metals and/or titanium, as well as of platinum metals; the cathode takes the form of a metal mesh electrode of copper or silver titanium. |
