In a room temperature regulating system having a regulating device 3 in series with a controlled rectifier e.g. a thyristor 5 the gate of which is connected to a one base B1 of a unijunction transistor UB, the emitter of which is connected to the junction of a temperature setting means 14 and a temperature sensing means 11 forming a potentiometer, the potentiometer is connected in series with a further resistor 13 in thermal contact with the sensing means 11 across the controlled rectifier 5. The circuit is supplied with a pulsating D. C. voltage, and the rectifier may be connected to inductive and capacitive impedances 23, 24 to reduce radio interference. A voltage dependent resistor 6 restricts excess voltages. Means 14 may have two variable taps shuntable by a switch 18 to provide day and night temperatures, and means 11 may be a NTC resistor, or a PTC resistor where the positions of elements 11, 14 are interchanged. The switch 18 may form part of a timer. The characteristic of the combination 11, 13 may be arranged to have a negative slope in the region of its greatest gradient in which case only complete half cycles are passed. Device 3 may be a heating resistor forming part of a valve adjusting the flow of a heating medium.</p> |
