PURPOSE:To provide a compact step trainer that reduces the loads of person to be trained and an assistant and makes step training easy to continue by operating an image display device in conjunction with a tread device, and supporting the person to be trained with an assisting device during walking. CONSTITUTION:This step trainer 1 comprises a tread device 2, an image display device 3, an assisting device 4 and an integral control unit 5 for controlling these devices in relation to one another, and the independently moving treads 8A, 8B of the tread device 2 for the right and left feet, respectively, are made by looped belts. The assisting device 4 installed on the tread device 2 grips the upper body of a person to be trained U, correcting his or her position and relieving the stress. The screen-equipped image device 3 is provided on the right side of the direction of walking of the person U and an image of scenery is projected on the screen as he or she steps. Based on the speeds detected by a belt detection means, a drive means calculates driving speeds to provide the appropriate nonelastic resistance to both legs of the person U and a belt drive means controls the looped belts 8. |
