PURPOSE:To produce a hydrocarbon adsorbent and a hydrocarbon adsorption catalyst used in a device for purifying exhaust gas discharged from the internal- combustion engine of an automobile, etc. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. binder, water and activated carbon are added to zeolite powder to prepare a slurry, a monolithic carrier is coated with the slurry and a coating layer with pores in a zeolite layer is formed by drying and firing the slurry to produce the objective hydrocarbon adsorbent. A catalyst layer contg. one or more kinds of noble metals selected from among Pt, Pd and Rh in powder based on activated ceria and/or alumina is formed on the coating layer to produce the objective hydrocarbon adsorption catalyst. |
