PURPOSE:To provide a method for efficiently producing a benzoic acid derivative polyvalent metal salt and its crystal useful an electron-receiving compound for memorizing materials. CONSTITUTION:The alkali metal salt of a benzoic acid derivative of formula I (X1, X2 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aralkyl, aryl, NO2; Y is O, S; R1 is H, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl; R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, aryl) is reacted with a polyvalent metal compound in an equivalent ratio of 1:0.8-1.5 in the presence of water at 0-50 deg.C, preferably 10-40 deg.C, and subsequently stirred preferably at 60-95 deg.C to obtain the polyvalent metal salt of the compound of formula I. The amorphous product of the polyvalent metal salt can be converted into well handleable crystals by a thermal treatment (preferably 50-100 deg.C) in the presence of water. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting an aminobenzoic acid derivative of formula II with a compound of formula III (Z is halogen) in the presence of a base. |
