A bayonet-type fastening consists of a helical cam-slot 21 in a rotatable rod 20 engaging a stiff spring bar 10 and locked in the fastening position by a bolt 30 which may be shot by barrel-lock 32 to engage a hole in a fixed casing 23 to prevent rotation of the fastening to the releasing position. The lock may be protected by a slidable cover 37, and the fastening may be employed on a wheel cover (Fig. 8, not shown) or a bonnet (Fig. 14, not shown).
