It is intended to create an electric motor, especially a split-cage motor, which is simple to assemble, for a centrifugal pump or a ventilator, in which it is possible to detect the operating parameters easily. This object is achieved in the case of an electric motor which has a motor shaft (8), shaft bearings (6, 7) for the motor shaft (8), a rotor (9) which is connected to the motor shaft (8), a stator (2) and a motor housing (1) whose end (1b) has an opening (1e) which is constructed concentrically with respect to the motor shaft (8), in that the shaft bearing (6), which is arranged on the end (8a) of the motor shaft (8) facing the end (1b) of the motor housing (1) is seated in a split pot (5) projecting freely beyond the edge regions of the opening (1e), closing the opening (1e) in the end (1b) of the motor housing (1) with its base surface (5c).
