Overspray in spray painting is caught by a continuously circulating filtration surface which runs through a washer (6) where the paint particles are washed out again. The surface can be an endless band (4) running over rollers (5), a rotating vertical disc or a horizontal roller. It can consist of nonwoven polyester bonded to a woven backing. A spray booth (1) has an air extract duct (2) covered by an exit grid (3) along the back wall. A continuous moving filter band (4) covers the back wall and retains the overspray from the paint spray gun (10). The band (4) moves over rollers (5) into a wash plant (6) where the paint is removed and it then passes into a drying zone (11) with squeeze rollers before returning. The wash fluid is recycled by a pump (13). When a certain paint concn. is reached, the wash fluid is drawn off by a valve (14) to a separate filtration plant. In an alternative embodiment the filtration surface is mounted on a vertical disc with the upper half retaining overspray and the lower half passing through the washer. USE/ADVANTAGE - Excess paint can be reclaimed with less environmental pollution.
|
