PURPOSE:To provide a shaft seal which exhibits a high damping effect upon low frequency vibration. CONSTITUTION:Fluid chambers 40 sealingly enclosing therein highly viscous fluid are defined between input side attaching members 12, 12 and outlet side attaching members 14, 14 which are alternately arranged around the axis O, and which are coupled to one another by means of rubber resilient members 16, and further, the chambers 40 are connected together by means of constriction passages 42. Meanwhile, the input side attaching members 12, 12 and the output side attaching members 14, 14 are respectively provided thereto with restraining members 18, 24 for restraining deformation of wall parts of the fluid chambers 40. Accordingly, the internal pressure is advantageously varied between the chambers 40 communicated together through the intermediary of the constriction passages 42, relative to one another, and the highly viscous fluid exhibits a slip shearing stress in accordance with the flow of the fluid between the chambers 40, 40, thereby it is possible to provide an excellent vibration damping effect. |
