PURPOSE:To secure electrolyte quantity and improve gas absorption property by housing a predetermined electrode plate group inside a battery jar, filling porous silica powder therearound, and impregnating and holding an electrolyte in the silica powder and a separator. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate group is constituted of a positive electrode plate 1, a negative electrode plate 2 and a separator 3 made of mainly fine glass fiber of a predetermined thickness. Porous silica powder 4 is disposed at the contact surfaces between the positive electrode plate 1 and the separator 3 and between the negative electrode plate 2 and the separator 3, thus constituting the electrode plate group, which is housed inside a battery jar 5. The silica powder 4 is filled between the inner wall of the battery jar 5 and the electrode plate group, and an electrolyte is impregnated and held in the porous silica powder 4 and the separator 3. Consequently, an electric discharging capacity becomes large and a gas absorption property becomes excellent. |
