PURPOSE:To set appropriate timing to whole speed change by operating a solenoid to switch a timing valve when actual gear ratio has been changed to the set value. CONSTITUTION:A control device for an automatic transmission has a timing valve 98 which enable to control supply or discharge of hydraulic pressure to and from a friction tightening element. The timing valve 98 is constituted to be driven by a solenoid 99. Timing control means 100 is provided to operate the solenoid 99 and to switch the timing valve 98 when actual gear ratio, the ratio of input rotating speed to output rotating speed, has been changed to the previously set value in speed change. The set value of the gear ratio is set corresponding to an engine load. When speed change has been started to change the actual gear ratio to the set value, the solenoid 99 is operated to switch a timing valve 100. Thus, appropriate timing is set under all operating conditions. |
