PURPOSE:To recognize a toner cartridge and its use state and to execute proper maintenance by reading information displayed on the cartridge in an electrophotographic recorder replenishing toner by the exchange of the cartridge. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic recorder is provided with an image writing part 15 irradiating a photoreceptor 14 with light to form an electrostatic latent image, a developing part 16 sticking the toner to the photoreceptor 14 to form a toner image, a transfer charger 17 transferring the toner image onto a recording paper P and an attachable toner cartridge 21 replenishing the toner, a bar code label 61 is stuck to the cartridge 21 and a CCD 26 fetching the light (b) from a light source 62 reflected by the label 61 and a control part interpreting the signal of the CCD 26 by a bar code and comparing it with previously set information to judge whether the exchange of the cartridge 21 is required or not and displaying the fact on a display panel not shown in the figure are provided as well. |
