PURPOSE:To provide a portable navigation apparatus which prevents a drop in the visibility of various kinds of apparatuses inside a vehicle as far as possible when the navigation apparatus is brought into the vehicle and used by being fixed near a dashboard of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:In a portable navigation apparatus, a GPS reception part, an input means 2, a CD-ROM 3, a map-information reabout means, a navigation means and a display means 7 are housed integrally inside an enclosure for a main body 4. The portable navigation apparatus is constituted in such a way that a GPS antenna 1 which receives a GPS signal is installed at a handle part 8. When the portable navigation apparatus is used outdoors, the inclination of the handle part 8 is changed irrespective of the set angle of the main body 4, and an optimum GPS signal can be received. In addition, since a front projection area can be reduced to only the part of the main body 4, it is possible to prevent a drop in the visibility of various kinds of apparatuses inside a vehicle when the apparatus is brought into the vehicle and used by being fixed to a stand near a dashboard of the vehicle. |
