PURPOSE:To provide an inverter device which can improve the distortion of input currents, suppress the occurrence of rush currents at the time of making power supply, cope with a wide range of power supply voltages, and has simple constitution. CONSTITUTION:An inverter device is provided with a voltage boost or drop chopper circuit 1 which outputs a smoothed DC voltage to an electrolytic capacitor C1 through a switching element and inductor by rectifying AC power supply VS and an inverter circuit 2 which supplies the smoothed DC voltage to a load 3 after converting the voltage into a high-frequency voltage. The inverter circuit 2 is provided with a switching element which also works as a voltage drop chopper. The inverter device is also provided with a control circuit 4 which can make the circuits 1 and 2 to work as voltage drop, voltage boost and drop, and voltage boost chopper circuits by controlling the turning on/off timing of the switching elements of the circuits 1 and 2. |
