METAL HALIDE LAMP WITH REFLECTING PLATE AND LIGHTING DEVICE FOR IT

PURPOSE:To improve the starting characteristics of metal halide lamp equipped with a reflecting plate without requiring encapsulation of a radiative substance or iterative impression of a high voltage. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 2a is furnished with an electroconductive structure 4 whose one end is connected electrically with the electrode 2a and other end is located near the inner wall surface of a light emitting tube. On the outer wall of this light emitting tube 1, a platinum wire 9 which is positioned close to the tone outer wall around the foremost of the structure 4 is provided and is connected electrically with another electrode 2b. Thereby a corona discharge is generated at the foremost of the structure 4, and charged particles are supplied abundantly to the inside of the tube 1 so that the electroconductivity between the electrodes 2a, 2b is increased. As a result, the lamp can be started with a low voltage.
