PURPOSE:To provide a character broadcasting receiver which easily copes with an article purchase procedure a questionnaire, etc. CONSTITUTION:This receiver is provided with a character broadcast decoder part 3 separating the character broadcast signal superposed on a television broadcast signal and decording the signal, a video switch part 14 switching the screen of a television broadcast and the screen of a character broadcast, VRAM 10 storing the decoded character broadcast signal from the character broadcast decoder part 3, an extraction part 4 extracting a desired character string from the caption display of the character broadcast signal, a character string storage part 5 storing the extracted character string, a transmission means composed of an NCU 13 outputting a signal to a telephone line and a modem part 12, an input part 6 inputting an operation signal and a CPU 9 connected with each part and controlling each part. By operating the input part 6, data is added to the extracted character string, a prescribed telephone line is connected and a transmission is performed.
