[Also in Divisions F1 and H3] In a burner control and ignition system, the spark ignition circuitry is such that fuel is only admitted to the burner when the sparking is adequate for ignition. The primary circuit of a step-up transformer 25 includes a voltage divider network across a capacitor 14 and a neon or gas discharge tube 17 and with a silicon controlled rectifier 22 forms a relaxation oscillator providing pulses to the primary winding 24. The pulse of energy generated in the secondary winding 30 of the transformer is applied to a series circuit comprising igniter spark-gap electrodes 32, 33, a condenser 71 and the solenoid 70 of a fuel valve 66 in parallel therewith. The control circuit also includes a thermostat 51 and a high temperature limit control 55.
