A method of storage comprising the steps of: locating a storage unit (11) at a working position (X) where access to the unit by a user is readily achieved from a floor (F) or other relatively safe working location; connecting the unit (11) by a linkage (13, 14) to an anchorage (15, 16) such that the unit (11) can be displaced between the working location (X) and a stable off-set location (H) where the unit (11) can be retained. Typically the off-set location (H) is generally vertically above or is generally horizontally to one side of the working location (X). The invention is also directed to a storage unit (11) comprising: a carcase (12) to receive articles for storage; an inboard mounting (24, 25) on the carcase (12) to bear the weight of the carcase (12) and of articles located therein or thereby; a mechanical linkage (13, 14) of generally longitudinal form, one end (26, 27) of the linkage (13, 14) being pivotably attached to the inboard mounting (24, 25); an outboard mounting (38, 39) on the other end of the linkage (13, 14) to the one end for pivotable attachment to an anchorage (13, 14), such as on a wall (W) or beam, and off-set from carcase (12) such that the carcase (12) can be moved between a working position (X), when the linkage (13, 14) is in a first configuration relative to the carcase (12), and a stable off-set position (H) when the linkage (13, 14) is in a second configuration relative to the carcase (12).
