The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for the reliable operation of a half-bridge or full-bridge inverter. The circuit arrangement is supplied from a DC voltage source, at least two field effect transistors being combined in series to form a bridge circuit and being arranged in parallel with the terminals. A load circuit is connected to the junction point of at least two field effect transistors. The circuit arrangement itself is controlled via a pulse width modulator which is supplied from a low-voltage source. The pulse width modulator is connected to at least one field effect transistor via a circuit arrangement comprising control logic and a threshold value switch coupled thereto.
