A supply/feed device for sheets contains: a magazine section (10) for accommodating a multiplicity of sheets, which are deposited in layers, a feeder (20, 40) for picking up the sheets one after another or in groups of a predetermined number of sheets from the magazine section and for conveying the sheets in a forward direction along a predetermined path, two detectors (60) for the optical detection of a front end of the sheet during the feeding process, a correction device (24, 25) for correcting a direction of the sheet to coincide with the results of the detection of the detectors and right and left guide plates (12), which are provided in the magazine section (10), for regulating both sides of the deposited sheets. The guide plates (12) are capable of sliding in a horizontal direction at right angles to the sheet forward direction for this purpose. The guide plates are also in each case connected to the two detectors (60) in such a way that the detectors (60) are also capable of sliding in the horizontal direction at right angles to the forward direction of the sheet together with the pair of guide plates (12), for this purpose. <IMAGE>
