A chipper tool (10) serves for the flattening of tree trunks (11). The chipper tool (10) comprises a plurality of rotating chippers (20). The chippers (20) are arranged distributed over the circumference of the tree trunk (11). They are simultaneously in engagement on the tree trunk (11). The chippers (20) have a substantially circular front face (21) equipped with chipper knives (22). The front faces (21) are provided with a recess (24). The chippers (20) are arranged in a common plane (16) lying substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis (15) of the tree trunk (11). The chippers (20) reach with their rotating edge region (23) into the recess (24) of a respectively adjacent chipper (20) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
