The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the optimum pulse value. The main fields of application of the invention are as follows: - health and sports training, - check of the condition of the human body. The optimum pulse value is determined on the pulse curve which is the equation of the regression. The pulse curve approximates the recorded values of the time between contraction of the heart during performance of work with steady output. On this curve, the pulse values in the given instant with the minimal time delay and the optimum pulse value at which the cardiovascular system and the entire human body work with maximum efficiency can be used to estimate the condition of the human body. The optimum pulse value is the individual, genetic predetermined parameter of the human body. Its value remains the same all through life. It is merely subject to age-related changes caused by ageing of the body or by pathological changes in the heart. The device for implementing the method of determining the optimum value comprises the following basic parts: electronic device with the microprocessor or PC, cardiac contraction sensor, recording and displaying means.
