A door-operating mechanism, see Fig. 1, comprises a housing consisting of a cylinder 5 and end covers 4 and 6, 6a. Cover 4 bears a hollow-ended operating rod 3 and cover 6, 6a supports, 'by means of thrust ball bearing 7, a spindle 1, 1a which is connected through nut 2 with rod 3. The other end of the spindle is supported by plain bearing 8. The spindle may be driven by hand, e.g. by operating a cable attached to a cable drum mounted on part 1a of the spindle, the cable end being led to the outside through tube 23 Alternatively, the spindle may be driven by an electric motor. Terminal contact 17 is provided so that the motor may be stopped The housing may be fixed on a door frame, e.g. by means of turning pins on cover 4. The operating rod 3 may be connected through a fork head with lever transmission in operative connection with a door. Tension springs 10 are distributed symmetrically between collar 3b of operating rod 3 and cover 4. Elastic rubber or synthetic plastic buffers 13, 12a are provided. In a modification, Fig. 2, the end covers are interconnected by bolts 15. A disc 18 having bores fitted with sliding balls 19 is provided integral with rod 3 and slidable on bolts 15. The disc has tubes 18a closed at one end distributed thereon, the tubes containing compression surings 20 which are centred therein by means of rods 22. Buffer springs 21 are provided over bolts 15 between disc 18 and cover 6 and an elastic annular buffer 12 is also provided. In either example, part or proportion of the tension or compression springs may be replaced by compression or tension springs respectively. The electric motor used for driving the spindle may have an arresting brake which operates automatically when the motor is stopped, securing any attained position of the door against spring forces. In a modification, the brake may be arranged to open in the event of current failure, thus ensuring the automatic return of the door-operating member by spring forces. |
