N,N-bishalomethyl sulphonamides Novel cpds. of formula R-SO2-N(CH2X)2 (where R is aliphatic or aromatic group, or halogen, and X is Cl or Br) are prepd. by reacting a sulphonamide RSO2NH2 with 2 moles of formaldehyde, or a cpd. producing it, and a chlorinating or brominating agent, pref. PCl3, POCl3, SOCl2. Products are intermediates for textile and plasticizers, and are also crosslinking agents for cellulose. |
