The treatment is a continuous process with sepn. stages for coarse and fine solids, followed by an aerobic and an anaerobic biological treatment. The sewage is recirculated a number of times between the separate purifying stages, with fine control through a process control system. The sewage drawn from the aerobic biological stage is mixed together with the mixt. of industrial oxygen and clear water from a gas/water mixer and returned to the aerobic stage. The passage of the sewage through the system is monitored by sensors, and the measured values are passed to a process control system to be used for further control of the sewage movement.
