NEW MATERIAL:An esterification product, which is prepared from a condensate of a polyhydric alcohol having 2-4 OH groups of the formula (R's are all residues after removal of OH groups from a polyhydric alcohol having 2-4 OH groups; n is 1,2, or 3) and 12-hydroxy-stearic acid, and has OH groups in the number half or less of the total hydroxyl groups of the polyhydric condensate in one product molecule. EXAMPLE:Diglycerol tetra 12-hydroxystearate. USE:Cosmetic having improved consistency, and self-emulsifiability, and compatibility with the perfume constituent, softness without giving oily feeling to the skin, capable of giving waxy materials of stable guality. PROCESS:A polyhydric alcohol condensate is esterified with 12-hydroxystearic acid alone or its mixture with 50% or less of a straight-chain and/or a branched chain higher fatty acid by the conventional method to give the objective compound. |
