The hydraulically actuated steering device for a vehicle has a hydraulic pump (10) which is driven for example by an electric motor (67) which can be switched on and off. The said hydraulic pump (10) acts on a double-acting steering cylinder (52) via a feed line (12) and a valve control (V). Two seat valves (17, 18) serve to act on the two pressure spaces (50, 51) of the steering cylinder (52). The pressures which are branched off from the steering spindle via seat valves actuated by drive pins also act on a slide valve (47) which serves for the sequence control of the steering cylinder (52) with respect to the vessel. The control slide (54) of this slide valve is also actuated by a drive pin (55) which is driven by the steering spindle. In this way, a simple and very expedient control of the steering cylinder of a vehicle is obtained.
