A known protective device for a blower of an internal combustion engine is manufactured from metal and has basically proved to be reliable and durable in practice. However, a disadvantage is the high outlay on production since first the individual fins of the grating have to be bent and then laid on top of one another and welded together. To reduce the outlay on production, the grating 1 according to the invention can be injection-moulded, there being arranged in the centre of the grating a plastic plate 2 whose centre contains an injection point. From the plastic plate 2 there extend inner fins 3a which branch in a bifurcation 4 into outer fins 3b. The fins 3a, 3b are connected to one another via ring fins 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d and, together with optimum design, take account of the need for collision protection. <IMAGE>
