<p>A method of measuring the rate of growth of bacterial cells in wastewater samples is described. In the method of the invention, labelled thymidine added to a sample of wastewater is incorporated into DNA by the dividing cells in the sample. The method permits quantification of the rate of production of new bacterial biomass in situ.</p> |
