A flexible formwork assembly (11) into which concrete is delivered to form a concrete structure (10). The formwork assembly (11) includes flexible sheets (12, 13) suspended from a support assembly (18). The sheets (12, 13) surround a reinforcing cage (15). Fixed to the exterior of the sheets (12, 13) are stress distribution members (16), which stress distribution members (16) are arranged in pairs with the ties (17) extending therebetween. If so required, the reinforcing cage (15) can be used as the main frame or skeleton to hold and support the sheets (12, 13). Spacers (145) can be used to aid in maintaining the sheets (12, 13) in a desired position prior to pouring of the concrete. The formwork assembly (10) cam be supported on the reinforcing cage (15) so that the formwork (10) follows the general configuration defined by the reinforcing cage (15). In situ concreting of walls of most shapes and configurations under water is possible.
