The invention relates to a pipe connector with a socket element which exhibits an internal thread and with a spigot element which exhibits an external thread. According to the invention, the thread of the spigot element (16) and socket element (17) has at least one section (19) of at least half a thread, of which the tooth width (B) is different from the directly adjacent section(s) (20, 21) with constant tooth width (B1, B3), a change in the ratio from average tooth width to average tooth gap taking place in said differing section (19), to be precise such that, in the case of two directly adjacent sections (20, 21), the latter have a qualitatively inverse ratio and, in these sections (19, 20, 21), the sum of tooth width and gap width, and thus the thread pitch (p), remains constant.
