Targets are protected against cesium attack by first evaporating potassium at a temperature of 150-180 degrees C., in such quantities that all glass parts of the tube are covered by a layer of a thickness of a few molecules. This is produced by maintaining a potassium vapour pressure of 10-5 to 10-6 Torr for 30 seconds. |
