METHOD OF PREPARING HIGHLY PURIFIED HYDROXY-APATITE

The high purity hydroxyapatite was synthesized from persaturated calcium hydroxide suspension solution which was maintained over pH 11 with aqueous phosphoric acid solution. The mole ratio of Ca/P was 1.67. Thus, calcium hydroxide 3.80g was added to the distilled water with stirring, in which 0.3 mole aqueous phosphoric acid solution 0.1 liter was dropped into during 20 min. and the reaction was maintained for 1 hr or more. The precipitate was filtrated and dried for 24hrs at 105≦̸C to give high purity hydroxyapatite, which was useful as the raw material of biomaterial such as the artificial teeth or the dentine.
