A shaftless open-end spinning rotor, designed as the armature an axial field motor, and a stator have plane, parallel bearing surfaces for a combined magnetic/gas bearing. To ensure smooth running in critical operating conditions because the range of operating rpm must lie above the critical rpm, a gas distributor and supporting and centering magnets are incorporated in and, respectively, disposed symmetrically about the axis and centrally in the stator (2), which has a grooveless, hollow cylindrical core (5) and a multiphase winding (19) of flat cross-section arranged between the core (5) and the spinning rotor (1). The faces of the winding (19) opposite the open-end spinning rotor (1), the gas distributor and the supporting and centuring magnets form the plane bearing surface on the drive side. |
