Magnetic head slider fabrication

A process for fabricating a slider for mounting a magnetic head within a magnetic disk storage system is described. The process includes the steps of isolating particular areas of the slider using a mask, and directing a stream of abrasive particles through apertures in the mask onto the particular areas. This has the effect of inducing compressive stress in the slider wherein its curvature may be controlled.
