<p>Polyethylene mixture for insulating metal wires, esp. as cable envelopes, has its fusion fracture (surface roughness produced during rapid extrusion) improved by inclusion of 0.1-5% wt. (based on polyethylene), pref. at least 2% wt., of a crystalline 4-methylpent-1-ene polymer (I) pref. a copolymer of (I) with up to 10% wt. 6-18C alpha-olefin. Composition pref. contains classic low-density polyethylene, s.g. 0.91-0.94 g./cm.3, and opt. 5-15% wt. classic high-density polyethylene.</p> |
