PRODUCTION OF ZIRCONIA NOZZLE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the zirconia nozzle for continuous casting which has excellent service life and with which sufficient sintering strength is obtainable. CONSTITUTION:A partially stabilized zirconia raw material having 70 to 90% cubic crystal component at 97 to 99.5wt.% and a spinel raw material as a sintering assistant at 0.5 to 3wt.% are compounded. The resulted nozzle moldings 10 are placed on a in-kiln truck 1a which consists of the same material as basic refractory moldings 20 consisting of, for example, magnesia-chromium raw materials or magnesia raw material or are placed on an in-kiln truck 1c succeeding to the rear part of the in-kiln truck 1b placed with the basic refractory moldings 20. The moldings are then calcined in a tunnel kiln.
