<p>Free-flowing foamed or expanded plastic granules, suitable for agglomerating into shapes of good thermal and mechanical props., are made by coating the granules with a non-sticky coating contg. a thermosetting or high-melting thermoplastic resin, opt. contg. fillers. The granules are of 1-10 pref. 3-8 mm dia. If thermosetting, the resin may be UF, MF or PF, esp. a mixture of a Novolak (RTM) with hexamethylenetetramine. If thermoplastic, the resin should soften at least 50 degrees C above the softening point of the foam.</p> |
