摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal damping force control of a device which is capable of varying the damping force characteristic of a shock absorber by estimating the temperature of operating oil in the shock absorber without using a temperature sensor, and inhibiting damping force control when the oil is at low temperatures. CONSTITUTION:A damping force (f) when oil temperature is ideal is determined by a controller 60 in accordance with a relative velocity vS, which is the rate of change of the relative displacement deltaS of a shock absorber which is detected by a relative displacement sensor 82, and an ideal value of the sprung acceleration alpha is determined in accordance with the ideal damping force (f) and the relative displacement deltaS, and when the actual value of the sprung acceleration alphawhich is detected by an sprung acceleration sensor 80 is higher than value the oil temperature is determined to be low. At low oil temperatures, damping force control is inhibited, thus preventing a step motor 40 from stepping out as a result of increase in the viscosity of operating oil.
