PURPOSE:To control according to the temperature of an operating fluid the drive speed of an actuator to an optimum which switches the damping force of a variable damping force shock absorber. CONSTITUTION:When an ignition switch is turned from its OFF to ON state, a temperature T detected by an outside air temperature sensor is initialized as shock absorber temperature TS, and if the zero cross of a detected value XGi of normal acceleration is detected during a preset measuring time with the vehicle running, a zero cross count CZ is counted up (step S32), and an increase DELTAT in temperature is calculated on the basis of the temperature TS and the count CZ per unit time (step S34). This increase DELTAT in temperature is added to the current shock absorber temperature TS to renew the shock absorber temperature, and when the renewed shock absorber temperature is not more than a set temperature TO, a step motor for switching damping forces is driven at low speed; otherwise, the step motor is driven at high speed. |
