PURPOSE:To minimize the environmental pollution factor and especially the content of benzopyrene as a carcinogenic substance without deteriorating the characteristics as a filler by using anthracene oil and boric acid as the binder. CONSTITUTION:5-15 pts.wt. of anthracene oil and 1-7 pts.wt. of boric acid are added to 100 pts.wt. of a refractory composition such as alumina, bauxite, spinel, agalmatolite, silicon carbide, graphite and clay. Plasticity is imparted by anthracene oil, fire clay is preferably used as a viscosity control material, and boric acid acts as a strengthening material in the low and medium temp. range (600-1000 deg.C). The benzopyrene content of the coal tar which is conventionally used as the binder is 7400ppm but that of anthracene oil is only 800ppm, and hence the influence on the human body is minimized. |
