PURPOSE:To obtain a target material made of a Co allay having low magnetic permeability by specifying the atomic % of a Co allay element, specifying the thickness of the slab and executing controlled rolling to introduce many working strains therein. CONSTITUTION:An allay having a compsn. contg., by atom, 0.1 to 40% Ni and/or 0.1 to 40% Pt, furthermore contg. 0.5 to 10% of one or more kinds of elements selected among the group of Ta, Mo, W, V, Nb, Hf, Zr, Ti and B, and the balance >=50% Co with inevitable impurities is smelted to form into a thin sheet slab having <=30mm thickness. The surface of the slab is coated with a metallic capsule or coated with a glass lubricant, is subjected to a two stage rolling down via reheating and is subjected to hot rolling to regulate the total draft to >=30%. Thus, many working strains are introduced into the hard-to-work Co allay, by which a Co alloy target material having low magnetic permeability can be obtd. |
