<p>PURPOSE:To improve the control precision of a rolling mill by detecting a point without a reflected light due to a through hole or a notch as a welding point. CONSTITUTION:A slit S is moved between No.(i) stand 1 and No.(i+1) stand. A through hole or a notch is formed near a weld point of this slit S. By using a laser reflecting system velocity meter 3, a laser beam irradiates the slit S and the traveling speed of the slit S is detected by the reflected light. Further, by using a weld point detecting device 4, a point without the reflected light due to the through hole 9 or the notch is detected as the weld point 8. In such a way, the weld point 8 of the traveling strip S is tracked. Therefore, highly precise tracking can be executed even in an adverse environment.</p> |
