ARAMID FIBER FOR REINFORCING MOLDED BODY OF POLYOLEFIN-BASED RESIN

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject aramid fiber for reinforcing capable of manifesting excellent adhesion to a polyolefin-based resin by treating aramid fiber with a treating agent composed of an epoxy compound and an ionomer resin. CONSTITUTION:This aramid fiber for reinforcing a molded body of a polyolefin- based resin is obtained by immersing aramid fiber in a treating solution prepared by blending (A) an epoxy compound with (B) an ionomer resin at 0.01-1.0 weight ratio of the components (A)/(B) and treating the surface of the aramid fiber. Thereby, the adhesion of the aramid fiber to the polyolefin-based resin (e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene) which is a matrix resin is remarkably improved. The molded body of the polyolefin-based resin is suitable as various articles for aircraft and automobiles and a reinforcing material for moundings.
